December 2013 - February 2014. At the Independence Square in Kiev, Ukraine born again. Ukrainians protest against the dictatorship of President Viktor Yanukovych and government corruption. Initially, the protests are peaceful, peaceful conduct, and among the demonstrators there is great enthusiasm. You can see the solidarity, self-sacrifice and love of Ukrainians to the folk culture. Waving blue-and-yellow flags, people sing the national anthem and folk songs, local poets read poems from the stage of freedom and liberation from the totalitarian yoke. People feel the strength. Playing music is the food prepared, it takes folk protest sitting. The camera does not follow the protesters, they themselves come into picture form and fill it. Suddenly everything changes.

The atmosphere thickens. Appears police with shields, in gas masks. You can see the flames and smoke. You can hear the shots are thrown stones. Attempting to suppress the revolution raises opposition and aggression. The crowd decides to fight and weapons. Reacts with a vengeance. It builds barricades, takes bloody fighting in the streets. You can hear shots and explosions. Poured blood, people die. There are coffins, funerals are held. When turns reading the names of the fallen, people lit torches. Finally comes the silence. You can hear the moving song "Glory to Ukraine". Burning candles and candles. The revolution came to an end.
"Maidan" Sergei Loznica ("Happiness you mine", "The Mist") is an original movie meditative, minimalist example of pure cinema, telling about the Ukrainian revolution of 2013-2014, without comment, the speeches of politicians, unnecessary symbolism and metaphors. Referred to as the image of "the birth of the nation," bears witness to the deep political and social changes in Ukraine.
