Three sisters: Vilma, Ela and Bedřiška live with two children. Their husbands were deported to concentration camps for their activities in the resistance movement. Doctor Jiří, friend of Jindřich, her husband Vilma, grateful to colleagues from the conspiracy that they did not release him during the interrogations, helps single women throughout the war. With time, a feeling arises between Vilma and Jiří. They receive a message that Jindřich died. Unexpectedly, however, it returns just after the end of the war.
